Decothane, Liquid Plastics’ market leading liquid roof membrane, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year as liquid applied products continue to gain market share in the roofing industry. With over 47 years experience and a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of roof works, Liquid Plastics has developed an expert roofing system in Decothane. “Our parent company Sika celebrates its centenary this year, and we are proud to be able to add that Decothane is also celebrating 25 years in production,” comments Steve Sullivan, Liquid Plastics’ Managing Director.
“Since 1985 Decothane has been used to waterproof many different types of roofs in varying climates, from the damp atmosphere in the UK to the heat of the Middle East.” Decothane is a liquid applied roof membrane that cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection. Detail roof areas can be easily encapsulated and because of its cold application there is no requirement for any heat or naked flame on the roof. Guarantees are available for 10, 15, 20 or 25 years – with evidence now available of Decothane roof systems lasting beyond that life expectancy.
Manufactured at Liquid Plastics’ headquarters in the UK, Decothane also has many environmental credentials. For example at the end of the guarantee period the life of the roof system can easily be extended by a further 10 or 15 years without the need to remove any of the old material, offering life cycle cost savings throughout the building’s lifetime. Decothane can be used as a stand alone waterproofing membrane or as part of a full built-up roof system on both new build and refurbishment projects. It is also available in a root resistant variant for use in green roof and inverted roof systems. Past projects include the new build Leeds Oncology Unit, refurbishment of the Eastenders set in Elstree, and the barrelled roof at Goodwood Racecourse.
