    The creation of a new, iconic development in the heart of Manchester’s vibrant student district has been aided with an innovative double-decked mechanical access solution from Harsco Infrastructure. Working with main contractor Shepherd Construction Ltd on the prestigious Student Castle project, Harsco designed and supplied a bespoke system using solutions from its range of construction access equipment to provide access to all external elevations, allowing the architectural panels to be easily applied to the 31-storey student accommodation block.

  • Harsco's Proven New Solution for Storm Water Tank Construction  - 27/09/2012 Application

    Harsco Infrastructure has provided a bespoke access solution to John Murphy & Sons (JMS) for the Maryport UID scheme in Cumbria. United Utilities contracted JMS to construct the major storm water handling facility in July 2011. The access solution involved the use of modified mast climbing work platforms. This bespoke idea was first used at the JMS site at Deephams for Thames Water, and has been adapted to suit the Maryport scheme. The construction of a large-scale detention tank at the existing pumping station is to prevent storm water surges entering the Solway Firth.

  • Harsco Infrastructure Helps to Bridge the Gap  - 05/04/2012 Application

    A comprehensive scaffolding access system provided by Harsco Infrastructure has enabled the refurbishment of an historic bridge at Mizen Head, on the Southern tip of Ireland. The 50-metre long bridge spans a dramatic sea gorge 45-metres below, and connects the mainland of County Cork with Cloghan Island. The original reinforced concrete structure had been in place for 100 years, but its location and exposure to the elements had caused it to deteriorate, and it was in need of major refurbishment.

  • Harsco is hard at work on bridge bearing replacement project  - 20/03/2012 Application

    Harsco Infrastructure has revealed details of a £710,000 contract to provide a comprehensive access solution for a major refurbishment project being carried out on the famous Forth Road Bridge in Scotland. Harsco’s bespoke scaffolding solution is allowing work to be carried out to replace the large bearings which support each end of the structure, with no disruption to traffic using the bridge.

    Harsco Infrastructure has revealed details of a $3.82 M project it is now working on to help span Norway’s Hardangerfjord with a major new bridge. Harsco has provided a variety of Self Climbing Formwork (SCF) systems, plus MANTO® to wall shuttering formwork, link beams, hoists and other associated equipment to help create the 1380-metre suspension bridge which will have one of the world’s longest individual spans measuring 1310 metres.

    A bespoke suspended access cradle system from Harsco Infrastructure is being used to help improve the appearance of a major landmark building in Ipswich. The system is being utilised to refurbish the facades of the 7-storey Suffolk House building which house the offices of AXA Insurance. Designed to provide a totally bespoke and highly flexible access solution that allows up to 12 two-man cradles to be used at one time, it features a unique counterbalance system which requires only minimal mechanical fixing to the roof of the building.

    Harsco Infrastructure has provided Self-Climbing Formwork (SCF) which is now helping ensure quick and safe access during the construction of a 320m tall pylon for the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge. The Harsco solution provides a fully enclosed temporary working environment which protects against extreme weather conditions during construction of the pylon and its 70m tall approach piers, which together form part of the record-breaking Russky Island Bridge at Vladivostok in Russia.

    PASMA – the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association – has presented its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Harsco Infrastructure’s Peter Bond, following his decision to retire from his post as a Council Member after 20 years.     Following its earlier success in providing a bespoke scaffolding and access system for renovation work at Gare Du Nord railway station in Paris, Harsco Infrastructure has now almost completed a second project, at the city’s Gare Saint-Lazare station.   • Harsco Infrastructure Makes Safety a High Priority on Fife Hospital Contract  - 22/07/2010 Application

    Harsco Infrastructure (formerly SGB) has supplied scaffolding and access equipment services to contractors building the new 49,000 sq m wing to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Due for completion towards the end of 2011, the new £170 million hospital wing will provide 528 new beds in 17 wards, 11 new operating theatres, an emergency care centre, surgical and medical assessment units. It will also offer a maternity and obstetrics department, women and children’s unit and specialist endoscopy, critical care, coronary and dialysis facilities.
