A £15 million refurbishment project is underway at Toryglen, Glasgow, where contractor Lawtech is completing the renovation of 1,083 properties. As part of this refurbishment, a system was required that would provide an efficient and long term method of repair to the extensive balconies and walkways across the estate. A range of concrete repair and flooring products from global building product manufacturer Sika met the brief.

The National University of Ireland’s library has received a complete above and below ground cast iron drainage solution from iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK, part of international materials company Saint-Gobain. Situated in Maynooth, the National University of Ireland was originally founded in 1845 and needed a drainage solution that provided superior strength and durability. Saint-Gobain PAM UK’s Ensign below ground drainage system was specified for these reasons, but above ground Ensign was also supplied and installed within the library because of its sound-deadening qualities, a key feature for a library.

Responding to figures released today (11th May 2012) showing output from the UK construction fell by 4.8% during the first three months of 2011, Scottish Building Federation Chief Executive Michael Levack said: “There is real volatility in the results being recorded for the construction industry which again leads me to question their accuracy. By which I mean our own anecdotal evidence is that the industry is suffering much more than the long-term official statistics would seem to suggest. It’s something the industry has repeatedly raised with the Office of National Statistics but we seem to be no further forward in improving the situation.

Ronacrete Approved Contractors ARC Surfacing laid approximately 200 square metres of RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing, using a 6mm Maple Harvest aggregate which was chosen from the RonaDeck range of natural aggregate blends, each formulated for strength and appearance. The surfacing will not discolour over time because the specially formulated polyurethane resin does not yellow or darken when exposed to Ultra Violet light.
